Role: Principle Protection Engineer
Type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £85000 (Based on experience)
Location: Remote (To be discussed but initial training will 2-3 times per week in Hebburn)
Our client is delivering innovative and resilient protection systems as part of the National Grid 5-Year Light Current Framework, applying the latest technology to new substations and upgrades across the UK. Our work focuses on safety, reliability, and reducing carbon impact.
Responsibilities:
* Delivering transmission protection and control systems with our end-customers from various domains & fields.
* Ensure that our client’s solutions are aligned with the latest policies and standards
* Provide a high level of customer service to clients and maintain the highest standards of quality.
* Sound problem solving skills, fault finding skills and analytical thinking.
* Technically leading to one of our Protection engineering teams, mentoring / coaching other members of the team to support their growth.
* Provide innovative solutions as technical lead for protection on UK Transmission and Distribution network Projects.
* Provide technical feedback for Sales, Proposals and Operations departments.
* Responsible for assessing the Protection Engineering process and optimising it to build an efficient engineering process allowing deliver of projects to specification and on programme.
* Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Experience:
* Certification in CDAE, TP137 or TP141
* Working in multidisciplinary teams delivering technical Protection and Automation solutions
* Detailed knowledge of National Grid delivery and specifications/standards are crucial.
* A minimum qualification of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering plus extensive experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry.
* Experience taking care of NG as direct customer and/or EPC customers providing protection solutions for brown field extensions or green field build.
* Detailed design knowledge covering Circuit diagrams / Interface diagrams / Cubicle design / Settings / Testing FAT.
* Application of protection and control systems on National Grid transmission network.
* National Grid Contractor Design Approval Engineer experience (Assurance or Contractor)
* Experience using industry-standard software tools for design, simulation and test, desirable to have SIPROTEC / DIGSI knowledge.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to allow efficient co-ordination between the team / function groups and the customer.
