Dermatology Front of House – University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust
Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide efficient front‑of‑house service to our Dermatology Administration Team. The successful candidate will be a friendly first point of call, able to work well within a team or independently. The role involves booking patients into appointments, distributing, collecting and uploading forms, allocating referrals to correct clinics and performing various support duties.
Key responsibilities
* Meet and greet all patients within the dermatology department.
* Book, re‑book and carry out outcoming of all dermatology appointments.
* Allocate referrals to the correct clinics and sites.
* Distribute, collect and upload requested forms.
* Maintain accurate electronic filing of patient records and documentation.
* Support rota allocations.
* Respond to patient queries via email and telephone.
* Answer telephone and email queries in a timely, courteous and efficient manner.
* Handle difficult situations and sensitive information calmly and professionally.
* Liaise with clinicians, registrars, specialist nurses and other clinical and non‑clinical teams to ensure high standard patient care.
Additional responsibilities (as required)
* Manage and prioritise own workload and work independently.
* Escalate departmental concerns or operational issues that prevent service delivery.
* Attend and complete mandatory training and development activities.
* Participate in the Trust’s appraisal process and support continuous improvement.
* Flexibly undertake other duties consistent with the role and banding, including project work, job rotation and absence cover.

Person Specification
Essential
* GCSE Maths, English, ICT Grade C/4 or equivalent
* NHS/Administration experience
* Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Demonstrates Trust Values and Behaviours
* Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft packages
Desirable
* Knowledge and experience working with NHS systems/applications
* Medical terminology
