Position Overview
Junior Clinical Training Scholar (JCTS) in Small Animal Surgery and Anaesthesia – starting 1 September 2026 (or ASAP). The role enhances Small Animal Surgical and Anaesthesia services and undergraduate teaching at the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Support the Small Animal Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery services by performing work‑up, diagnosis and management of surgical patients.
* Assist with scheduling, preparation and conduct of surgeries, and post‑surgical after‑care and discharge.
* Assist with sedations and anaesthesia of surgical and medical patients across the hospital, including the critical care unit.
* Support final‑year veterinary students during small animal surgery and anaesthesia rotations.
* Participate in practical instruction of veterinary students and answer a weekend‑weeknight on‑call rota.
Qualifications
* Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
* At least 12 months of experience in companion‑animal practice.
* Pre‑existing experience in small animal surgery and/or anaesthesia, or completion of a rotating Small Animal Internship, is preferred.
