Immunisation Nurses - Greater Manchester (Salford)
The Immunisation Nurse works as a member of the Immunisation Team, delivering nasal and intramuscular flu and other vaccine programmes within community and educational settings in accordance with the Department of Health Green Book on Immunisation and Local Services Specifications.
The role involves working closely with the administration team and school staff.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Practice
* Provide safe delivery of a quality immunisations service.
* Identify, prioritise, and implement programmes of care that meet patient needs.
* Manage risks effectively, including consent and side effects.
* Maintain CPD and stay updated with current practices and research developments.
* Report new problems and concerns to the Locality Lead Nurse.
* Work towards PGDs and PSDs.
Communication
* Communicate effectively with team members, parents, carers, and school staff.
Delivering a quality service
* Work within own competence and professional code of conduct regulated by the NMC.
* Maintain quality standards, work as part of a team, and collaborate with admin to organise school workload.
* Support shared learning and networking across immunisation teams.
* Understand and apply legal policies supporting safeguarding.
Team Working
* Act as lead clinician during immunisation sessions.
* Collaborate with administration and school staff during sessions.
Risk Management
* Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
* Follow cold chain procedures for transportation and storage.
* Practise infection control per guidelines.
Managing Information
* Comply with GDPR.
* Accurately record and store patient records.
* Understand responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act.
Learning and Development
* Complete mandatory training and CPD.

Person Specification
Experience
* Evidence of professional development.
* Experience working independently and in teams.
* Experience with school-aged children, travel vaccinations, and childhood immunisations.
* Supervision of Healthcare Assistants.
Qualifications
* Current NMC registration.
* Up-to-date CPR and anaphylaxis training.
* Foundation immunisation training.
Additional qualities

* Strong clinical skills and communication abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure and independently.
* Full driving licence, access to a car, and willingness to travel.
