The Role
In this position, you will lead and coordinate planning activities supporting the site’s regeneration programme in Barrow-in-Furness. Your responsibilities include preparing planning applications, environmental assessments, advising on land-use constraints, and engaging with stakeholders. You will work closely with project teams to ensure planning aligns with programme milestones and regulatory requirements, contributing to the realisation of a significant defence infrastructure upgrade.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Proven experience in town planning, development management, or spatial/urban planning within large-scale infrastructure projects
Extensive knowledge of UK planning legislation, local plans, and regeneration frameworks
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to interpret technical drawings, environmental reports, and masterplans
Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or eligibility for chartership is desirable
Experience working within defence-related, regulated, or secure-site environments is an advantage
