Job Purpose
To support the Registered Manager in managing the day-to-day running of the children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained, compliance with regulatory requirements, and that each child's individual needs are met in a trauma-informed, child-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities - Assist the Registered Manager in ensuring the home meets the requirements of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
* Support, mentor and supervise staff, promoting professional development and reflective practice.
* Develop and maintain care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs.
* Promote a culture that prioritises the welfare and safeguarding of children, adhering to child protection policies.
* Lead and model trauma-informed practice aligned with the 'Stable Homes, Built on Love' reforms.
* Ensure effective communication and collaboration with external professionals including social workers, educators, and healthcare providers.
* Contribute to staff rotas, recruitment and the training process.
* Respond promptly to incidents, ensuring thorough recording and learning from significant events.
* Maintain a homely, safe, and nurturing environment where children feel secure and supported.
Person Specification Essential:
* Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and willingness to work towards Level 5 in Leadership & Management.
* Experience working in a residential children's setting, with a clear understanding of Ofsted inspection frameworks.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* Ability to lead, motivate and support a staff team to deliver outstanding care.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma-informed approaches.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and on-call duties as required.
* Full UK driving license
* The ability to manage the house in the absence of the manager
