Vacancy:
We have a full time, permanent opportunity for a waking night youth support worker, based at our children’s residential home in Burton Latimer, NN15.
As a waking night support worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children and young people throughout the night. You will be there to offer comfort, manage night-time routines, and address any issues, which may arise, creating a peaceful and secure environment for everyone.
You will liaise with day shift staff to ensure a thorough handover of any issues or incidents, which may have occurred during the night.
We are looking for are individuals who are passionate about providing care and support to children and young people who require social, emotional, and mental health support.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for Waking Night Support Worker:
* Build strong, positive relationships with children, offering emotional and practical support to make them feel safe and valued.
* Help children settle for bedtime and assist with morning routines, ensuring a smooth transition from night to day.
* Maintain a secure environment by conducting regular checks, being vigilant about their safety and well-being throughout the night.
* Be there for children who may wake up during the night, providing calm, comforting support to ease any anxieties.
* Support with daily living activities and medication administration as required.
* Organising and participating in recreational activities.
* Creating a safe and welcoming environment.
* Building positive nurturing relationships with vulnerable young people with complex needs. Empower and motivate young people to achieve their goals and overcome difficult emotions and behaviours.
* Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere within the home.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for the young people in your care.
* Help children create lasting, positive memories through special activities and nurturing care.
What you’ll bring:
* Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference in young people’s lives.
* A willingness to work towards QCF level 3 in Residential Childcare, which is fully funded by us!.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet operational needs of the home
* Positive role model – honesty and empathy are a must.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and a calm demeanour.
