We have an amazing opportunity for a Head of Housekeeping to join our team at our Ivetsey Bank Hospital in Wheaton Aston, Stafford. As the Head of Housekeeping you will lead the Housekeeping Team and be responsible for the supervision of all areas of housekeeping in a hands-on capacity, ensuring a high standard is achieved and maintained.
Our Ivetsey Bank Hospital is a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) hospital for young people aged 12-18. We specialise in supporting young people with severe or complex mental health conditions who need intensive inpatient treatment. Our facilities include an on-site school registered with Ofsted, a High intensity suite, an Occupational therapy kitchen, a gym, an outdoor sports area (including a basketball court), three cabins for therapy, a keep-fit area and a multi-faith cabin.

* 8am-4pm Monday to Friday
What you'll be doing
The Head of Housekeeping will lead, coordinate and monitor work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure that as a team we provide a clean, orderly and attractive environment for young people and staff. You will assign duties accordingly while inspecting all aspects to ensure everything meets standards and monitor young people’s satisfaction. You will monitor goals, timelines and deliverables, coordinate team efforts and ensure objectives are completed on time and to the highest quality.
To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of sanitation regulations, team management abilities and be able to work alongside your team carrying out periodic cleaning duties.
Key areas
* Planning & Coordination
o Understand the key objectives and deliverables in collaboration with Head of Support Services
o Overseeing staff performance on a daily basis
o Checking areas around the hospital including stairways and communal areas for cleanliness
o Maintain detailed plans, including actions, owners and timelines
o Schedule rotas and arrange cover in cases of absence
o Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including floor cleaner, bleach and rubber gloves, bed linen, and towels
o Ensure weekly cleanliness audits and monthly mattress audits are undertaken and action plans put in place where needed
o Ensure correct usage, storage and care of cleaning products and equipment, adhering to COSHH procedures
* Team Management
o Manage a team of Housekeepers, providing direction, motivation and support to ensure a cohesive team
o Delegate and monitor tasks to team members, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
o Identify and communicate any potential conflicts or issues
o Conduct supervisions and appraisals in a timely and constructive manner
o Handle discipline as needed and in accordance with policy
* Communication & Reporting
o Act as the main point of contact for suppliers, providing regular updates on status, risks and changes
o Organise and lead meetings, preparing and distributing minutes and action items
o Prepare detailed reports for senior management as needed
* Risk Management & Problem Solving
o Identify key risks and potential solutions
o Monitor and manage timelines, ensuring deadlines are met
* Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
o Ensure deliverables meet required standards and quality expectations
o Ensure compliance with safety and infection control policies in all areas
What you'll have
* Work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role
* Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for a large establishment
* Experience working with teams
* Experience handling conflicting priorities and expectations to ensure successful outcomes
* Good organisational and planning skills
* Strong team player with the ability to influence and manage effectively
* Good communication, both written and verbal
* Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
* Always adopt a professional approach to young people in our care
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, visitors, carers and the multi-disciplinary teams
