Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 reflecting the incorporation of the living wage of £12.60 per hour (£24,638 per annum). This top-up is in place until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.

Job Overview

Maternity Services seek a motivated clinician to provide governance and screening within maternity, neonatal, and paediatric services. This essential role supports high-quality Antenatal and Blood Spot screening services during pregnancy and in the neonatal period.

Funded by Antenatal Screening Wales (ASW) and Newborn Blood Spot Screening Wales (NBSW), this role acts as a key link between all-Wales programmes and local screening delivery within the Health Board.

The post holder will have specialist knowledge and lead on risk management systems within antenatal and newborn blood spot screening, promoting safety and high standards of care.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure high-quality screening across the Health Board, coordinating quality and safety systems that provide ongoing assurance of care quality, effectiveness, and compliance across maternity, paediatric, health visiting, sexual reproductive health, microbiology, gastroenterology, pathology, and neonatal services.

They will lead on learning from incidents or concerns related to screening, triangulating patient experience and outcomes, ensuring this learning is evidenced and embedded in practice.

Essential criteria

* Current Midwifery registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council
* Masters degree or equivalent experience and knowledge
* Relevant post-registration CPD
* Experience in incident investigation


Desirable criteria

* Evidence of practice improvement


Additional requirements

* Experience in coordinating quality and safety functions in healthcare
* Experience leading clinical audits
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
* Ability to analyze governance information and identify solutions
* Knowledge of methods to stimulate clinical quality improvement
* Understanding of Putting Things Right legislation and Duty of Candour (Wales)

Welsh language skills at levels 1-5 (understanding, speaking, reading, writing) are desirable.
