Job Title: Section Lead - New Builds and Components (Submarines)
Working Pattern: Full time (37 hours)
Working location: Derby
An exciting opportunity for a Section Leader has arisen in the New Build & Components (NB&C) DBU, as part of the Engineering Producibility Team – CRDMs, in Rolls-Royce Defence (Submarines).
Rolls-Royce design and supply components for the UK Nuclear Submarines programme. NB&C provide: design & safety justification support as well as, manufacture and procurement of mechanical components for the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP). NB&C is going through exciting times and significant change to support our Customers. To meet the demands of all our Customers we are growing our Manufacturing Engineering Capability.
As part of the Engineering Producibility Team, a Section Leader is expected to influence designs and methods of manufacture using New Product Introduction tools to ensure manufacturability of product designs as well as continually improving upon existing product designs to meet business and customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery.

What you will be doing:
With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:
1. Design, development and justification of complex mechanical components.
2. Development of complex and novel manufacturing solutions.
3. Managing interfaces with other teams and external suppliers.
4. Leading a highly skilled and talented mixed discipline team of design and manufacturing engineers.
5. Liaison with other departments such as: ME, Manufacturing, Quality, P&C and Purchasing to ensure delivery of parts to set timescales and targeted costs.
6. Understanding New Product Introduction (NPI) processes to support a technology insertion programme.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
7. UK minimum MEng/BEng in mechanical engineering or related discipline. Or significant relevant engineering experience.
8. Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) is desirable, or evidence of the active pursuit of accreditation.
9. Possess a general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business i.e. Machining, Welding, NDE, Fabrication & Assembly and Metrology.
10. Possess a general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (i.e. NX, Teamcentre, CAPP, SAP) relevant to the business is desirable.
11. Have a good understanding of Engineering processes relevant to their role i.e. Design Process, DfM, NPI.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
