Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer in Barrow‑in‑Furness, Cumbria, England. In this role you will permanently reside in the United Kingdom as an expatriate supporting COLUMBIA/Dreadnought SSBN construction for Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS) SP24 Navigation subsystem. The ideal candidate will coordinate with U.S. home office engineering staff, engineering project managers, program management, and U.S. field engineers on next generation subsystem installation, advanced support of inboard and outboard maintenance, problem investigation and troubleshooting tasks to support the COLUMBIA/Dreadnought SSBN SWS Navigation subsystem Shipyard Integrated Test Program (SITP) lifecycle.
This position may require travel to the United States (Lockheed Martin RMS Mitchel Field, NY, Groton, CT, Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, FL, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, GA, and Naval Submarine Base Bangor, WA). The assignment will otherwise be primarily located in Barrow‑in‑Furness, England.
Establish and provide the technical and engineering support during the development, proofing, integration, and completion of the Shipyard Test Procedures to be utilized during COLUMBIA/Dreadnought Missile Control Center Module (MCCM) construction.
Provide support to SITP related meetings, as required, to ensure the proper documentation is provided for the testing, operation, and maintenance of Navigation Subsystem Support Equipment.
Determine Shipyard schedule requirements to coordinate logistic milestones and to ensure timely delivery of required hardware and software to support planned Strategic System Program activities.
Maintain the reliability, calibration, and operational performance of the SWS Navigation subsystem. Provide engineering assistance associated with repairs, modifications, system tests, and checkout of newly installed systems.
Perform routine, scheduled, and preventative equipment and software maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair on‑site equipment failures and investigate contributing factors to failures.
Assist in planning, installation, and testing of engineering or field changes or modifications. Provide operational and maintenance On‑The‑Job‑Training (OJT) and assistance to personnel, review and develop information necessary to revise technical documentation for the system when deficiency or changes are identified.
Assist in tracking and developing requisition requirements of consumables and spare parts and repairable items.
Coordinate with various organizations to provide coordinated disposition for responses to inquiries, including Trouble Casualty Reports and the Trouble Failure Report program.
Ability to climb up and down ladders to access submarines is required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Active DoD Secret clearance or higher prior to start and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
* Must be willing to reside in the U.K. for a minimum of 3 years (start time of expatriate assignment)
* Experience with navigation principles and applications (inertial applications)
* Candidate may be required on an infrequent basis to go underway on units and to frequently work on moored pier‑side units, physical ability to navigate steep stairs and ladders as well as work in confined spaces is a requirement
* Must have one of the following:
o Prior Trident experience or Trident Navigation
o Technical experience and knowledge of FBM Program
o Experience with OHIO/Vanguard Class SSBNs and sustainment lifecycle to coordinate Extended Refit Period (ERPs) and Shipyard Installation Test Program (SITP)
DESIRED SKILLS
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related subject area from an accredited college or university is preferred.
* Retired or former U.S. Navy SSBN Navigation Electronics Technician
* Experience in analyzing and resolving problems
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Clear and concise communication style, ability to communicate with all levels of leadership, peers and customers
* Experience in managing and prioritizing your own workload that may consist of several tasks at once
* Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
* Self‑starter, adept to taking initiative and working well on a team
* Ability to work with minimal detailed direction to deliver desired results
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships (both internal to LM and with customers)
* Ability to handle long term tasking as well as emergent tasking to support the mission

PAY & BENEFITS
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 – $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. The salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
