EQUANS is recruiting for an Electrician to be based in Belfast. This is a permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week) with competitive salary, a vehicle, fuel card and benefits package.
Overview
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in residential and commercial properties. The role requires safe, efficient work in compliance with British standards, regulations and company and client procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out safe isolation according to industry standards and company procedures, documenting the work.
* Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems, equipment and accessories in compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, BS 7671 and relevant guidance notes.
* Inspect and test fixed wiring systems and in‑service electrical equipment in accordance with BS 7671 and company procedures.
* Diagnose faults and use a multifunction tester and other equipment to find, repair or rectify faults on fixed wiring systems.
* Prepare and report on electrical installation condition assessments.
* Design, install, commission and maintain fire detection and fire alarm systems in domestic premises to BS 5839‑6.
* Collaborate with other construction workers and tradespeople to complete jobs and repairs efficiently.
* Provide high‑quality customer service and address client enquiries and concerns professionally.
* Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all relevant British standards.
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours rota as required.
* Perform any other reasonable management requests.
Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
* AM2, or equivalent qualifications that allow a future ECS gold card.
* Level 3 Award in the requirements of electrical installations BS 7671.
* Basic knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in Construction.
* Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance and repair within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of electrical codes, regulations and safety standards, including the Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Desirable
* Valid ECS card.
* Level 3 award in initial verification, periodic inspection, testing, condition reporting and certification of electrical installations.
