Job Description

Overview

Join a forward-thinking, technology-driven manufacturer at the forefront of engineered consumer and industrial products. As a Product Design Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of innovative products—taking ideas from blank-page concept all the way through to production-ready solutions.

You’ll be involved in every stage of the development journey: early research and feasibility, detailed design, CAD modelling, hands-on prototyping, rigorous testing, and seamless transfer to manufacture. Working closely with talented internal teams and trusted external partners, you’ll help deliver high-performance products built for real-world, demanding environments.

This is a role where you can genuinely own your projects, influence design direction, and see your work become market-leading products that customers interact with every day.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the end-to-end design and development of new products, from initial concept to full production release
* Research, generate, and refine design concepts, assessing feasibility and technical risks
* Create detailed 3D CAD models and comprehensive engineering documentation for manufacturing
* Build, assemble, and test functional prototypes both in-house and in real-world conditions
* Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes that balance performance, cost, and quality
* Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support tooling, costing, and manufacturability assessments
* Collaborate with supply chain partners to ensure designs are scalable, robust, and production-ready
* Support pre-production sample reviews and sign-off processes
* Work with marketing and commercial teams, supplying renders, visuals, and technical insights
* Take ownership of project timelines, risk management, and delivery milestones

Required Qualifications & Experience

* Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
* Proven experience bringing products from concept through to production
* Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally with SolidWorks or similar software
* Experience designing products that combine mechanical and electronic components
* Solid knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
* Practical, hands-on experience with prototyping, model making, and product testing
* Ability to manage your own workload, priorities, and project deadlines
* Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills

Desirable Experience

* Background working with low-voltage electronics or regulated product environments
* Familiarity with FEA, rendering, and visualisation tools
* Experience producing marketing-ready visuals, renders, or animations
* Understanding of global supply chains and outsourced manufacturing models
* Highly organised with a structured approach to workload management
* Creative, practical, and collaborative mindset
