To provide support for a 16-year-old young male with Down Syndrome.
We are looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this young person to access social and leisure activities within the local community. He is a happy and outgoing young person who enjoys being outdoors; as well as going to soft play and various other activities. He uses a wheelchair and requires support to enable him to get out and about.
He also has a learning disability and cannot communicate verbally, making his needs known using symbols and photographs, however he can understand simple verbal instructions.
The young person requires support with all aspects of his self-care, including meals, getting dressed and his personal care.
Hours 5 hours per week = 20 hours over a 4-weekly period.
Rate of pay - £13.09 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata. Any out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer.
Person Specification
The successful applicant must:
· Have experience and a positive understanding about young people who have disabilities.
· Have a genuine interest in working with young people with complex needs.
· Have a high degree of initiative.
· Be punctual and reliable as the young person cannot be left unsupervised.
· Be flexible.
· Have a happy, positive and caring nature.
· Respect confidentiality.
Full, clean driving licence required and must be insured for business use.
The successful candidate will require an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS), cost to be met by employer. Services
