Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role
We’re excited to be offering this opportunity for a talented Quality Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team, working at the forefront of technology.
Working with us will mean delivering critical digital services based on Java and open-source software. We specialises in the transformation of legacy solutions to modern cloud-native architectures. We deliver solutions using DevOps principles and modern agile ways of working using a range of technologies including Java and its open-source ecosystem, microservices, infrastructure-as-code, NoSQL databases, containerisation, JEE and Oracle, hosted on cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premise platforms.
* As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be tasked with a wide range of responsibilities so we’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck-in. Someone who learns quickly, enjoys a challenge, loves a job that’s never the same one day to the next.
* You’ll be checking and assessing requirements, including assessing testability of designs.
* Creating test scenarios or scripts and setting up test data in conjunction with external systems and teams.
* Running tests, collecting and recording results and then retesting to prove that identified issues have been resolved.
* Keep the wider team up to date with test progress including any risk-based assessments undertaken and raise issues when relevant.

The Work
You will be working in an multi-disciplined Agile Scrum team on the development of software of one or more release-based projects. You will be involved in projects that are varied and challenging that require sound software and system testing skills.

Your skills and experience
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the QA process, knowledge in defining, implementing test designs and broad experience across test levels.
* Hands-on experience using and maintaining automated test frameworks (e.g, Cucumber, JUnit)
* Knowledge of stubbing / mocking frameworks such as Wiremock
* Understanding of Non-Functional testing such as Performance, Security or Accessibility testing
* Experience / Understanding of Git or other version control systems
* Strong experience of iterative / incremental software delivery
* Hands on experience of all levels of the test automation pyramid
* Experienced in API testing and tools
* Experienced in Functional or System Testing
* Experience using project management tooling (e.g. JIRA)
* Good knowledge of Agile methodologies
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving & collaborative skills
* Proactive, looks for areas of improvement

Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance .
To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.

Works in the area of Software Engineering, which encompasses the development, maintenance and optimization of software solutions/applications.1. Applies scientific methods to analyse and solve software engineering problems.2. He/she is responsible for the development and application of software engineering practice and knowledge, in research, design, development and maintenance.3. His/her work requires the exercise of original thought and judgement and the ability to supervise the technical and administrative work of other software engineers.4. The software engineer builds skills and expertise of his/her software engineering discipline to reach standard software engineer skills expectations for the applicable role, as defined in Professional Communities.5. The software engineer collaborates and acts as team player with other software engineers and stakeholders.
