Job Responsibilities
* Provide a clinical pharmacy service to wards, including information and advice on the safe, effective and economical use of drugs to health professionals and patients.
* Clinical ward cover on a rotational basis in surgery, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, elderly care and acute admissions.
* Act as Responsible Pharmacist for the dispensary.
* Maintain a personal portfolio of evidence.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential
o Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
o Commitment to CPD in line with GPhC recommendations
o Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
o Attend relevant local and national training events and courses
* Desirable
o Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB)
o Post‑graduate clinical certificate, primary care pathway qualification or equivalent
Experience
* Essential
o Project / audit work
o Core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology
o Clinical reasoning, judgement and problem‑solving ability
o Awareness of the current NHS agenda
o Ability to prioritise work and manage time to meet deadlines
o Understanding of legislation relevant to hospital pharmacy practice
* Desirable
o Critical appraisal skills
o Experience formulating protocols and standards
o Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
o Hospital experience as a trainee or undergraduate
o Experience working with ward‑based technicians
