Join us as our Network & Infrastructure Engineer, where you report into our Infrastructure Manager and you will be providing control and consistency across our network and infrastructure estate. You'll be key in adding value to our successful within this diverse opportunity, ensuring our network and service infrastructure for our Screwfix contract is secure, performant and resilient. Our network is across the following Wincanton Screwfix sites: Trentham, Lichfield, Stafford and Runcorn. We can offer flexibility at one of these sites as work location for our role and offer a shift pattern of: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (requires flexibility for some out of hours/weekend work for upon business needs - on a rota covering basis). Key Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring overall IT day-to-day operations, infrastructure and networks are reliable and performant. Along with managing/supporting production systems and network operations. Ensure system performance and SLAs are met and implement IT continuous improvement programs. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key IT products and service providers. Provide technical expertise and an escalation point for IT colleagues across the contract. Work in close cooperation with third party service providers, ensuring the IT infrastructure is suitable for the customer and their business-critical systems. Assess the relative impact of IT industry trends on current and future enterprise infrastructure needs and projects, with playing a key role in successful delivery of IT projects. Assist in designing and troubleshooting the network of IT services to meet the functional objectives of the business. Mitigating, monitoring, and managing infrastructure related risks. Search for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of existing systems to meet business needs. Advise future requirements to assist the budget process and track spending on equipment/resource against budget. Security (endpoint and server security, proxies, anti-ransomware, etc) VLAN design & administration IP Routing and IP Telephony Firewall policy design & management DNS, DHCP Wireless topology & management VOIP Software Layer: Windows Server 2012-2023 administration Active Directory & Group Policy Experience with WSUS/WDS Good understanding of Virtualization technologies Citrix & Remote access technology Cloud technologies Containerization (Docker) Active Directory & Group Policy Experience with WSUS/WDS Linux systems administration (Ubuntu) SQL Server configuration (Oracle SQL/MySQL/MS SQL) What will you bring to our team? Proven IT experience, well established in network/infrastructure operations and experience in areas such as network design and systems administration. Highly motivated with the will and ability to seek out new workstreams. Logical thinker, demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Passionate to lead internal and external projects from inception to completion. Skill in conceptualizing creative solutions, documenting them and presenting them. Ability to develop and deliver projects using leading edge technologies. Experience implementing packages and working with vendors. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical colleagues. Familiarity with ITIL best practices and the concepts of Configuration Management. Working knowledge of WMS, any exposure to warehouse automation would be an advantage but not essential.
