BBC Burmese Journalism Internship (Yangon)
BBC Burmese is offering one paid, full-time internship opportunities (up to 9 weeks) for early in career journalists looking to develop advanced digital storytelling skills.
This programme is designed for candidates who already demonstrate strong journalistic potential and want to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced international newsroom, producing impactful content for young audiences.
You will work alongside experienced journalists to develop skills in researching, scripting, filming, editing, and presenting digital stories.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must meet all of the following:
* Currently studying journalism/media or graduated within the last 12 months
* Fluent Burmese and strong working proficiency in English
* Proven ability to shoot and edit video independently (mobile or camera)
* Confident presenting on camera
* Active content creator on at least one digital platform (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
* Available to work full-time in Yangon for the full 9-week programme (from 15 June)
* Must already have the legal right to work in Myanmar (BBC cannot sponsor visas)
* Required Skills & Practical Requirements Comfortable using professional or semi-professional editing tools (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut)
* Able to produce short-form video content under deadlines
* Strong understanding of Burmese youth audiences and digital trends
* Must provide own laptop and smartphone capable of video editing
* Responsible for own accommodation and travel to Yangon office
Highly Desirable
* Demonstrable portfolio of published video content or social media work
* Previous experience (internship, university media, freelance work)
* Ability to pitch original story ideas relevant to young audiences in Myanmar
