Maths Teacher

Location: Yorkshire and the Humber, North Yorkshire, Redcar

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Industry: Education and Training

Salary: £170 - £250 per day

Job Description

This role involves delivering high-quality mathematics education to students, fostering a positive learning environment, and contributing to their academic progress. The successful candidate will plan and prepare engaging lessons that meet the curriculum requirements, assess and monitor student progress, and provide constructive feedback. They ensure that teaching methods are inclusive, accessible and adapted to meet the diverse needs of learners. The role requires maintaining accurate records, supporting students’ personal development, and adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver effective mathematics lessons in line with the national curriculum and school policies.
2. Develop and implement schemes of work that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
3. Assess, record, and report on the progress and attainment of students regularly.
4. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning and encourage improvement.
5. Create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes student engagement and motivation.
6. Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to share good practise and contribute to departmental activities.
8. Participate in relevant professional development activities to remain up to date with educational best practise and curriculum changes.
9. Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of students at all times.
10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, assessment, and planning.

Required Qualifications

11. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification recognised within the United Kingdom.
12. Good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at grade C/4 or above.

Education

13. A degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related subject is essential.
14. Further professional qualifications in education or teaching are advantageous.

Experience

15. Previous experience teaching mathematics at secondary school level is desirable.
16. Experience working with students of varying abilities and behavioural needs is preferred.
17. Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet the needs of all learners.

Knowledge and Skills

18. Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for mathematics and assessment frameworks.
19. Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills.
20. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
21. Ability to use information and communication technology (ICT) to support teaching and learning.
22. Organisational skills to maintain accurate records and manage workload efficiently.
23. Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practise.

Preferred Qualifications

24. Experience with examination preparation and delivering GCSE or equivalent examination courses.
25. Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs, behaviour management, or pastoral care.
26. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and remote teaching methods.

Working Conditions

27. This is a temporary full-time position, typically working during standard school hours, Monday to Friday.
28. The role is based within a school environment in Redcar, North Yorkshire.
29. Occasional requirements to attend meetings, training sessions, and school events outside of normal teaching hours.
30. The role involves interaction with children and young people, requiring adherence to safeguarding and child protection policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
