Broiler Farm Manager - North Yorkshire - £38,000 – £45,000 + Benefits
The Job
As Farm Manager, you will oversee the entire broiler unit, taking full responsibility for the day-to‑day management and long‑term performance of the farm. You will lead and develop a team of staff, ensuring operational excellence, welfare standards, and productivity targets are consistently achieved. This is a hands‑on role where your practical experience will guide decision‑making across all aspects of broiler production.
Your key responsibilities
* Managing the full operation of the broiler unit, including feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting systems to ensure optimal bird performance and welfare
* Monitoring environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, and air quality, and implementing improvements to maximise growth and welfare
* Leading flock health management: conducting regular inspections, identifying illness or stress, overseeing vaccination and medication programmes, and liaising with vets where necessary
* Maintaining rigorous biosecurity, hygiene, and cleaning protocols, overseeing pest control, and managing site access to safeguard flock health
* Supervising and developing farm staff, including allocating tasks, providing training, and supporting a safe and efficient working environment
* Monitoring production performance, analysing data such as feed intake, water consumption, bird weights, feed conversion ratios, and mortality, and preparing reports to inform farm strategy
* Managing farm supplies, equipment maintenance, and compliance with health and safety legislation
* Driving continuous improvement in farm operations, including implementing new practices, technology, or systems to enhance efficiency and performance

The Candidate
* Strong knowledge of animal health, welfare, and performance monitoring
* Experience with record‑keeping and reporting for production data
* A Poultry Passport (completed or working towards) is highly advantageous
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
* All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and have the legal right to work in the UK
