This post offers an exciting opportunity to gain training and experience in the Trauma and Orthopaedics specialty and Medical Education. The aim of this post is to further develop and improve teaching of Undergraduate medical students within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for a Teaching Fellowship; the post holder will be jointly supervised by the surgery directorate and the Undergraduate Department. Close collaboration and flexible working between the departments is integral to the appointments, to balance clinical and teaching commitments. The post holder will be expected to contribute to work in the Orthopaedic Department and provide high quality care for patients. The post holder will be given the opportunity to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. The post is for 12 months and salary scale is the Locally Employed Doctors contract Those wishing to apply who are working at a higher grade than MT03 CT 1/ 2 are welcome. The award of the Teaching Fellowship will allow the post-holder to deliver and develop undergraduate teaching at all levels at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites with a specific focus on Trauma and Orthopaedics. There will be a clinical component, which includes contributing to the junior grade on call rota in T&O and providing clinical care for the Orthopaedic wards. Clinic and theatre sessions are encouraged and negotiated by the post holder, considering their level of experience. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to mentoring and supervising medical students on a regular basis as well as contributing to end of stage examinations and in-course assessments.
