The Bridges Medical Practice is looking for a Phlebotomist for 21 hours a week. 3 month fixed term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent. We are a busy practice with 17,000 patients based across 2 sites in Weymouth. We currently have 5 Partners as well as Salaried GPs and a mix of Advanced Care Practitioners and Nursing staff.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Phlebotomist who is a team player, and committed to Primary Care. The successful candidate will mainly see patients who have pre-booked appointments but will need to be flexible and take urgent bloods if needed.

Job responsibilities
Job Summary:
To provide and maintain a high standard of phlebotomy care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. Such tasks include :
* Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
* Assisting GPs with minorsurgery and coil fittings
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
* Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients and referral on as appropriate
* Able to document consultations
* Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognisesigns and symptoms of child abuse
* Perform ECGs
* Able to recognise and manage anaphylaxis
* Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
* Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
* Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.
* Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration and emergency equipment
Other tasks including:
* Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
* Maintaining Nursesrooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
* Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
* At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
* A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
* Attend and participate in monthly team meetings when required and bi monthly clinical supervision
* Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
