Support Worker
We are seeking a kind, reliable and proactive support worker to support a 28 year old man with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
This role focuses on enabling him to access and enjoy activities in the community while receiving the calm, steady guidance that he occasionally needs.
General information.
Location: Ruabon, Wrexham.
Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour
Hours: initially 4 hours, one day per week, (with the view of extending if agreeable on both parties).
Enhanced DBS check is required.
About the role.
The young man enjoys a wide range of physical activities which include:
* Wall climbing
* Exercising at the gym
* Outdoor walks
He has a physical ability in these pursuits but requires support to ensure he can safely and confidently navigate public spaces and activities.
The role is ideal for someone who is calm, encouraging and can offer person centred support while allowing him to maintain his independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting and accompanying the young man in the community – based activities.
* Encouraging participation in physical and social pursuits.
* Providing safety guidance and emotional reassurance during outings.
* Promoting independence and confidence while ensuring wellbeing in public environments.
Requirements.
* A full driving licence
* Access to your own roadworthy vehicle with business use insurance.
* A valid enhanced DBS check
* Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills.
* Understanding of or experience working with individual with autism / ASD.
Desirable.
* Previous experience in a similar support or care role.
* Interest or willingness to engage in physical activities such as gym sessions and walking.
* Flexibility to increase hours in the future.
Additional information.
* Mileage to be paid at 45p per mile (fir travel with or on behalf of the individual supported)
* Annual leave entitlement 5.6 weeks per annum, pro rata, based on a 37.5 hour working week.
