About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join one of the UK's major cancer centres, serving a population of 1.8 million across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Based at the renowned Rosemere Cancer Centre, this role offers broad exposure to advanced radiotherapy, SACT, innovative research, and service development-ideal for consultants seeking a dynamic and academically engaged environment.
You will join a large, friendly, and forward‑thinking Oncology directorate delivering high‑quality care across Gynaecological and Upper GI cancers, supported by specialist ACP teams, an outstanding radiotherapy service, and extensive research infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver specialist oncology care across Gynae and Upper GI cancer pathways.
2. Participate in MDTs and collaborate with surgeons, physicians, radiographers, ACP teams, and nursing colleagues across the region.
3. Provide radiotherapy planning, peer review, SACT prescribing, and treatment oversight.
4. Support and supervise junior doctors, specialist registrars, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
5. Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, audit and quality initiatives.
6. Participate in teaching, examinations, postgraduate education, and research activity.
7. Take part in the second‑on on‑call rota (approximately up to 4 weeks annually).
8. Cross‑cover consultant colleagues as required.

What We're Looking For
Essential:
27. MBBS or equivalent medical degree
28. Full GMC registration with licence to practise
29. Eligibility for CCT in Clinical Oncology (or within 12 months)
30. Experience in radiotherapy and SACT
31. Strong communication and teamwork skills
32. Valid DBS/PVG or willingness to obtain one
33. UK Right to Work
Desirable
34. Higher research/educational degree
35. Experience in stereotactic radiotherapy
36. Educational Supervisor training
37. CCT in Oncology (or within 6 months of achieving it)
