West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Children and Family Services team, reporting to the Assistant Team Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality social care services within a supportive and collaborative working environment.
Responsibilities
* Working directly with children and families to assess their needs and provide appropriate support and intervention.
* Conducting thorough assessments and maintaining accurate and timely case records.
* Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children.
* Attending court hearings and providing evidence as required.
* Participating in team meetings and contributing to the overall development and improvement of services.
* Receiving regular supervision and support to enhance professional development.
Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England registration.
* Experience working in a children and family services environment, ideally within a local authority setting.
* Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and statutory requirements.
* Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to work effectively with complex cases.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently, manage a diverse caseload, and prioritise competing demands.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up-to‑date with current social work practices.
