Pay: £85–£105 per day (dependent on SEN experience & relevant qualifications)

About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking an experienced Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged pupil on a 1:1 basis in a mainstream school in Blackburn or Darwen.
This role is suited to someone with significant experience supporting children with Autism (ASC) and an understanding of strategies such as:
* TEACCH
* PECs
* Sensory regulation
* Visual timetables
* Social stories
You will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, regulate emotions and develop independence.

Requirements (Experienced Candidates Only)
Applicants must have:
✔ Strong experience supporting children with Autism/ASC
✔ Background in a primary school or SEN provision
✔ Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification (or equivalent SEN qualification)
✔ Understanding of behaviour regulation and sensory needs
✔ Ability to use personalised learning strategies
✔ A valid enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain)
❌ This role is not suitable for candidates without direct SEN experience.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism in KS1 or KS2
* Implement personalised support plans and visual resources
* Use de‑escalation and sensory strategies where needed
* Support communication, language and social interaction
* Liaise closely with the SENCO, class teacher and parents
* Assist with both academic and emotional development
* Encourage independence through structured routines

The Ideal Candidate
* Experience with ASC-specific approaches (TEACCH, PECs, visual supports)
* Calm, patient and nurturing
* Confident managing dysregulation or sensory needs
* Able to build strong, trusting relationships
* Skilled in adapting work to meet an individual pupil’s level
