Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils are committed to delivering excellent advice and support services to homeless people approaching the council for housing assistance. We are looking for an ideal candidate to join our team who can demonstrate experience in delivering quality homelessness advice or services. The successful candidate will be a key contact for those facing homelessness, fulfilling the Council's statutory obligations under the Housing Act 1996 Part Vll and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Empathy and engagement with potentially vulnerable clients are essential skills for this role.
Responsibilities include:
1. Interviewing individuals approaching the Council as homeless.
2. Working with clients to find solutions to their homelessness.
3. Administering and discharging the Council's statutory and regulatory obligations to those threatened with or experiencing homelessness.
4. Communicating with clients regarding legal duties.
5. Liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies to investigate and prevent homelessness.
6. Providing tailored housing advice based on clients' needs.
Contract Details:
This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for up to 12 months or as a secondment for existing staff. The working pattern is 18.5 hours per week, with half-days on Wednesdays and full days on Thursdays and Fridays.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Customer-focused with a commitment to excellent service.
2. Experience in a similar role within housing or customer service environments.
3. Team player with good IT skills.
4. Ability to develop creative solutions for service improvements.
5. Ability to prioritize a varied workload and handle difficult situations calmly and compassionately.
6. Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
7. Knowledge of housing-related legislation.
8. Proficiency with computer systems.
