Description About the role We have a new opportunity for an Asset Compliance Surveyor to join our team on a permanent basis covering the London area. The Fire Risk team oversee fire risk assessments (FRA) and manage and address open recommendations from our third party assessor. As an Asset Compliance Surveyor, you will support the Fire Quality Assurance Manager by being responsible for the delivery of works to fire doors, fire stopping / compartmentation works and other associated fire-related issues within your area. To enable you to address the FRA recommendations, you’ll need support and will link in with our wider team of surveyors, contract officers and administrators, along with our external stakeholders, therefore being able to build and maintain relationships is crucial. Responsibilities include Working from the recommendations raised in the FRA, you will visit properties and determine the work required, scoping the required works using our standard Schedule of Rates and overseeing the contractors' delivery of the works. Also agreeing variations, managing quality, value and progress all in line with their contract terms Ensure works are completed to a high standard, evidenced, and where appropriate, ensure the contractor third-party certification Be responsible for attending fire service audits, as well as supporting the investigation of fires within a Guinness property Ensure residents receive excellent service are listened to, effectively consulted with and kept informed Ensure works are delivered in a way that keeps residents, colleagues and third parties safe, complies with health and safety legislation and Guinness H&S policies and procedures, delivering value for money What we’re looking for We’re a customer-focused organisation, so we know that how we do things is just as important as what we do. You’ll also be able to demonstrate: Excellent level of knowledge of building construction, standards, and legislation, and an ability to diagnose and specify remedies to building defects, particularly relating to Fire Safety. Understanding of passive fire safety measures and the methods of ensuring their effectiveness. Ability and presence to be proactive and work on own initiative, with limited supervision, and be able to manage contractors delivering building works at project level including H&S, quality, value and progress with excellent organisational skills. Excellent standards of customer care and the ability to deliver accurate and clear communications in writing, face to face or by telephone Successful track record of delivering building surveying services and management of substantial work programmes in a similar environment Willing to travel to support other areas as necessary Essential Qualification: HNC/HND in building construction /surveying or equivalent. Awareness of landlord responsibilities for managing Fire Safety and CDM requirements Knowledge and clear understanding of the Fire Safety Act (2021) and Approved Document B Have or are studying for a recognised Fire Safety qualification: Institute of Fire Safety Managers Fire Risk Assessment training FDIS Diploma in Fire Door Inspection BM Trada in Fire Doors and/or Fire Stopping NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety& Risk Management PAS 79 Fire Risk Assessment Training or equivalent CIOB Fire Safety for Construction Interviews will be held from the week commencing 19th May.
