Join to apply for the Purchasing Assistant role at Darthaven Marina & Services (est. 1975).
Base pay range: £30,000 to £32,000 per annum (full-time), dependent on experience. The actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
What will I be doing?
* Researching, sourcing and ordering marine and general equipment and consumables.
* Providing essential, professional support to enable the smooth running of our retail spaces and our technical services teams.
* Purchase Order Processing – processing accurate purchase orders from stock reports or by request from a member of our technical services team.
* Purchase Order maintenance – regularly reviewing and maintaining live purchase orders.
* Stock Replenishment – purchasing stock and helping maintain appropriate stock levels with the Parts, Purchasing & Chandlery Manager.
* Monitoring and promptly responding to all communications related to orders (email, orders@, telephone).
* Assisting with stock takes on a rolling and annual basis.
* Working with the finance team to resolve purchase order and purchase ledger queries.
* Providing assistance and support to the Parts, Purchasing & Chandlery Manager as required.
* Supporting the Chandlery team to handle over the counter sales during busy periods or to cover for leave or sickness absence.
* Maintaining an enthusiastic, helpful and knowledgeable attitude in interactions with internal and external customers.
The role primarily operates in an office setting, with occasional access to the marina; some outdoor exposure and PPE guidance apply. Some physical activities related to manual handling may be required, with training provided.
What do I need?
* Previous experience in purchasing, procurement or related roles (preferred but not essential).
* Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Sage 200 and Microsoft Office.
* Good communication and customer service skills (written and verbal), with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a sometimes fast-paced environment (with assistance where necessary).
* Knowledge of stock control systems.
* Prior knowledge of marine parts and chandlery operations is a bonus but not required.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* A current full UK driving licence.
* Experience with Purchase Order Processing is beneficial.

About Darthaven Marina
Darthaven Marina is located in the South Hams countryside, offering a 270 berth marina and a range of services including a large on-site Chandlery, a busy Parts Counter and technical services teams of Engineers, Electricians and Shipwrights.
Employment details
* Role is based on a 40-hour week, 8:30am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Some weekend and bank holiday work may be required.
