Job Description: Assistant Headteacher – Immediate Start (SEMH Setting) Location: Newbury, Berkshire (commutable from Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke and Reading) Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours: 40 hours per week | Term Time Only Contract: Full-time, temporary (until Christmas 2025) – with potential to extend or become permanent Start Date: As soon as possible About the Opportunity SEND Inclusion Support is working in partnership with a specialist independent school in Berkshire to recruit an Assistant Headteacher with strong leadership experience and a passion for improving outcomes for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an urgent cover position running at least until Christmas, with the potential for a longer-term or permanent opportunity for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities As Assistant Headteacher, you will: * Lead on curriculum development and delivery, ensuring high-quality teaching that meets the diverse needs of all learners. * Oversee assessment and progress monitoring, using data effectively to drive improvement and raise achievement. * Champion positive behaviour management and pastoral care, fostering a safe, respectful and nurturing environment. * Support, coach and develop staff, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional growth. * Build strong relationships with families, external agencies and local partners to ensure holistic pupil support. * Contribute to the school’s strategic vision, improvement planning and safeguarding leadership.
