Role: IT Support Technician
Location: Taunton (on-site with some remote support)
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum

Our client, an exceptional independent school is hiring an IT Support Technician to support a busy and vibrant education environment. This role offers the opportunity to play a hands-on part in keeping technology reliable, secure, and ready for daily use across a school community and partner sites.
You’ll be central to day-to-day IT operations, supporting staff and students while contributing to infrastructure upgrades and long-term improvement projects.
What you’ll do
Provide first- and second-line IT support across desktops, laptops, tablets and peripherals
Act as the go-to contact for day-to-day technical issues, troubleshooting and escalation
Support school events, ensuring AV, networking and classroom technology run smoothly
Work closely with the Network Manager on upgrades, maintenance and infrastructure projects
Manage and support servers, cloud services, networks and endpoint environments
Maintain secure IT operations, including patching, backups, access control and safeguarding
Deploy and manage end-user devices across Windows, macOS and ChromeOS
Set up and troubleshoot AV systems, including interactive screens, projectors and digital signage
Support Microsoft 365, cloud platforms and education-specific applications
You’ll work closely with teaching staff, support teams, students and external partners to ensure technology enhances learning and day-to-day operations.
What we’re looking for
Experience supporting end users across Windows 10/11, macOS and ChromeOS
Knowledge of device management tools such as Intune, Autopilot, Apple School Manager or MDM
Hardware troubleshooting experience across PCs, laptops, printers and peripherals
Understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD) and Group Policy
Exposure to Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
Networking fundamentals including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, switching and Wi-Fi
Familiarity with backup, security and endpoint protection tools
Experience supporting education technology, MIS platforms or classroom AV is highly desirable
