We’re seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to help design, develop and optimise the systems that contribute to our ambition of competing at the front of the FIA Constructors’ Championship. Key Responsibilities As a Control Systems Engineer, you’ll work across a wide range of advanced electronic control systems, supporting everything from on car performance to simulation tools and test environments. In this role, you will: Develop electronic control systems for on car use, HIL and DIL simulators, and test facilities. Take ownership of control systems projects—from specification to implementation, testing, delivery, and ongoing maintenance. Build software and tools for configuration, calibration, data monitoring, analysis and performance optimisation. Support the development of standard ECU software and calibrations to maximise performance. Investigate control system issues using telemetry, HIL and SIL tools, and provide clear technical feedback. Develop HIL simulations and plant models to improve system test coverage and calibration accuracy. Contribute to coding standards and systems engineering methodologies. Occasionally provide factory support during race and test events. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise A strong degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics or similar discipline. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with solid control theory knowledge as well as a data driven approach to problem solving. Experience modelling and simulating control systems including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical elements. A proven track record developing real time control software using Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow and auto coding tools. Knowledge of highspeed data acquisition and analysis systems. Experience with McLaren Applied technologies such as System Monitor and ATLAS is highly desirable. Experience in motorsport technology such as gearboxes, brake by wire system and hybrid power units. Ability to work calmly under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results on tight timelines.
