Job Introduction

We are looking for Student Health Visitors to join us!

Are you a reflective, dedicated and dynamic Nurse or Midwife, and looking to train as a Health Visitor where you can make a real difference to children, families, and communities? Then we would love to hear from you!

At HCRG Care Group we are offering a 1-year full-time course through either the University of Surrey or Buckingham New University.

You will gain vital hands-on practical experience and key theoretical knowledge through a 50/50 split.

Training is a combination of clinical learning and study in both practice placements and university.

You will be based in Surrey.

This course is a level 6/7 where you will receive SCPHN Health Visitor qualification and is delivered by esteemed University of Surrey

Successful applicants will need to be available to start in October 2025.

Main Responsibility

As a Student SCPHN Health Visitor you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life and develop the skills to lead the Healthy Child programme.

You will work with families to identify health needs in children 0-4 years as early as possible!

Your practice placement will facilitate practice learning enabling you to apply the theoretical knowledge and acquire the skills to ensure high quality, evidence-based assessment, delivery, and evaluation of care in relation to child/family need and the protection of children.

The course runs for 52 weeks with 7 weeks annual leave. The annual leave is set by the university and non-negotiable.

Upon completion of the course you will be registered as a SCPHN whereupon you will be eligible to apply for Band 6 Health Visitor roles.

The Ideal Candidate

* The ability to travel across Surrey to meet both the educational and clinical requirements of the course

We change lives by transforming health and care.

Established in 2006 we are one of the UK's leading independent providers of community health and care services, working with health and care commissioners and communities to transform services with a focus on experience, efficiency and improved outcomes. We deliver and transform adult and children community health services, primary care services including urgent care, sexual health, dermatology and MSK services as well as adult social care and wellbeing services. Across England, we support communities of many millions and directly help more than half a million people each year - guided by our simple values: we care, we think, we do.

As you’d expect, safeguarding and protecting the children, young people and vulnerable adults that we work with is of the utmost importance so we have policies and procedures in place to promote safeguarding and safer working practices and everyone who joins the team is subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks.

Finally, we need to let you know that the company you’ll work for is part of HCRG Care Group Holdings Limited and by applying for this job we’ll need to process and hold information about you.
