The Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub (GMBGH) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Head of Access to Finance (A2F). This senior appointment offers a unique and exciting opportunity to develop, lead and manage the Access to Finance service, contributing to the growth and success of start-ups and established businesses across Greater Manchester.
The GM Business Growth Hub is a community of specialists with a passion to help businesses across Greater Manchester to realise their ambitions. We have supported more than 30,000 businesses including start-ups, scale-ups, and established businesses, providing finance guidance, creating international links, and paving the way for innovation and people development across the region. We work with the best of public and private partners, offering expert one-to-one and peer-to-peer business support, events, specialist programmes, funding and much more.
About You:
With strong knowledge and experience of the UK funding landscape. Specifically, you will have demonstrable experience and a network of contacts across equity, debt and grant based sources of funding. The Head of Access To Finance will be a highly visible, embedded and respected position across the Greater Manchester business and investment ecosystem. You will be a spokesperson and strategic thought leader providing insight, market awareness and knowledge across forums such as events, media, round tables and panel discussions.
You will have a detailed understanding of the issues associated with business fundraising and the ability to support the development and communication of finance propositions to both commercial and public sector providers. This will include a demonstrable understanding of the business processes involved.
A natural leader, you will lead the team of GM Access to Finance specialists to achieve team and individual success. The objective is to ensure A2F are recognised as the 'go to' service for founders and businesses looking to become investment ready and access the funding and wider business support needed to support their growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Access to Finance service as the primary source of high-quality business support for entrepreneurs and business leaders across Greater Manchester.
* Ensure that the support available to Greater Manchester businesses around accessing finance and investment is well known and understood by both founders/business leaders and investors/financial institutions alike.
* Lead and develop our digital platforms to provide insight and guidance to Greater Manchester businesses and a source of lead acquisition for the Business Growth Hub.
* Lead and implement the ongoing development, delivery, and financing of the Access to Finance service ensuring that output and financial targets are met, the GM Business Growth Hub and the Growth Company’s strategic business plans are achieved and business growth and scaleup is realised.
* Cultivate a culture and operating practices within the Access to Finance service that improve performance, productivity, compliance, and quality of provision.
* Develop, implement, and performance-manage continuous improvement plans to position the Access to Finance service as the primary source of support for growing businesses seeking to access funding.
* Ensure high levels of staff performance and service quality through regular communication, clear objectives, support, appraisal, and corrective action.
* Develop and implement marketing plans for the Access to Finance service to ensure the right volume and type of client is targeted.
* Establish and manage relationships with key internal/external stakeholders to ensure high-quality referrals and recognition of the service across businesses and investors.
* Implement effective processes to track and manage the A2F client journey from initial contact to feedback and impact evaluation.
* Identify, justify, and lead new areas of business development through the monitoring of policy, funding, market developments and customer needs.
* Contribute to the wider objectives of the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub team.
