Overview
A Personal Assistant is required to support a young adult autistic male, who has anxiety and selectively mute.
Responsibilities
* Companionship to support socialisation – to support accessing the community. To travel to the park, groups or social days out, etc.
* Basic support with shopping, visiting cafes and helping to make purchases, etc.
* To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make, such as going to local amenities.
* To drive to various locations, as required for outings or socialisation.
* Safeguarding the young person at all times; provide a high standard of support in a professional manner, as they may get overwhelmed in busy places and need support to regulate; always ensure safety during working period.
* Develop a good working relationship with the young person and their family, building positive, trusted relationships.
* Create a caring, stable environment to help the young person achieve positive outcomes and learning experiences.
* Communicate effectively with the young person and family to ensure cohesive support.
Skills and Experience
* Experience of supporting autistic individuals; knowledge and understanding is essential.

* Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
* Resilient and able to remain calm when faced with anxious behaviours.
* Caring, supportive, honest, responsible and patient.
* Punctual and reliable.
* Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
* Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
* Ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
* Good communication and inter-personal skills.
* Active, energetic and sociable with a good sense of humour.
Benefits
* 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
* Sickness absence pay at SSP rate (if eligible).
* 50p per mile reimbursement for mileage travelled with the young person.

* Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant.
* Salary: NMW
* Closing date: 31/10/2025
* Hours: 4 hours per week during school term time and 8 hours per week during school holidays
