Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacy Technician
Job Summary: This is an exciting time to be working in general practice and shaping the future of primary care. Brighton North and Central PCN are seeking an experienced, motivated and forward‑thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our existing pharmacy team. The post-holder will have opportunities to shadow other healthcare professionals and be supported to develop and advance the role within the PCN pharmacy team, working both autonomously and in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team. We are passionate about developing the pharmacy professionals of the future and the successful candidate will be supported to enrol onto the 15‑month CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway.
Main duties of the job: The post-holder will be responsible for carrying out a variety of duties and roles for individual practices and the PCN. Core tasks include driving medicines reconciliation and optimisation through undertaking responsibilities such as safe transfer of care from secondary and tertiary settings, promoting and managing repeat dispensing and online ordering, and aiming to reduce medicines wastage through safe, cost‑effective prescribing. The post-holder will also answer medication queries from clinicians, colleagues and patients within their scope of practice, referring to clinical pharmacists as appropriate. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to run face‑to‑face clinics, managing patients with chronic conditions and actively review and optimise their medication.
About Us
Brighton North and Central PCN is a group of four GP practices working collaboratively for a local population of approximately 42,000 patients across Brighton and Hove. The team is dynamic and supportive, covering a diverse cohort of patients including a large student population. The successful candidate will join a well‑established innovative pharmacy team consisting of four clinical pharmacists and four pharmacy technicians, supported by a lead PCN pharmacist. Other healthcare professionals are also employed to support patient health and wellbeing. Successful post‑holders will work alongside this wider multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to shape the role to suit their interests and the needs of the PCN population.
Pay scheme & Salary
AFC Band 5 or above, equivalent depending on experience.

Qualifications
* Essential: NVQ at level 3
* Desirable:
o Evidence of post‑NVQ further learning
o ACT course completion
o Working towards completion of National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technician
Experience
* Essential: Minimum of 2 years working at a higher level of pharmacy technician practice
