As a Graduate SEND Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in the educational journey of children who are unable to access mainstream schooling due to physical and mental illnesses. Your responsibilities will include providing tailored support, fostering a nurturing environment, and facilitating learning opportunities that empower each child to thrive.


Key responsibilities

* Building Positive Relationships: Establishing trusting and positive relationships with students is essential. Creating a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help when needed.
* Assisting with Classroom Activities: Supporting the delivery of lessons by assisting students during class activities, providing one-on-one instruction, and adapting teaching materials to meet individual needs.
* Providing Emotional Support: Offering additional emotional support to students with SEN needs. Being empathetic, providing encouragement, and reassurance to help students cope with challenges and build resilience.
* Supporting Inclusion: Facilitating participation of students with needs in various classroom and school activities. Collaborating with teachers to modify activities and assignments for accessibility.


Requirements

* Relevant Degree: Ideally in psychology, education, or healthcare, providing foundational knowledge crucial for this role.
* Experience: Previous experience working with children is highly preferred.
* Understanding of SEND: Familiarity with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is advantageous.
* Key Skills: Resilience and empathy are essential for supporting diverse student needs.
* Driving License: Beneficial but not mandatory.
