Location: Aberdeen City Music School - Halls of Residence, Aberdeen
Duration: Permanent, Part Time 24 hours per week term time
Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
Job Purpose/about The Role
To work as part of a team and take responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care to the young people who board (term-time) at Aberdeen City Music School Hall of Residence. To provide a safe, consistent, and caring environment that encourages and nurtures young people to develop positively and achieve their full potential
The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum
* SSSC/GTC Registration or willing to become a member
* Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) A SVQ Level 3 (Children and Young People) and
HNC in Social Care or a social work or equivalent registerable qualification (See SSSC
website) is preferable, but not essential
The Postholder Is Able To Demonstrate
* Working with young people
* Keeping clear and accurate records
* The ability to make decisions and take responsibility for own practice, seeking advice
and support as necessary
* Good practice; recognising support needs, promoting dignity and respect and
exhibiting unconditional positive regard
* The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with young people,
their families and other stakeholders
* The ability to advocate on behalf of young people by ensuring that their views are
taken into account and that their rights are promoted and protected
* The ability to produce high quality written records and reports
* Good ICT skills
