Are you an experienced legal journalist with a sharp mind and a flair for storytelling? We’re looking for a Deputy Editor to join our market-leading trade publication, International Employment Lawyer (IEL), a trusted source of insight, analysis, and intelligence for the global legal community.
As Deputy Editor, you’ll play a central role in shaping our editorial agenda, managing daily content, and ensuring our coverage remains authoritative, engaging, and timely.
You’ll work closely with the title’s Editor-in-Chief to commission features, edit news and opinion pieces, and represent the title across our series of market-leading, in‑person conferences around the world.

Key Responsibilities
 * Oversee daily editorial output, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and house style compliance
 * Commission and edit news, features, and thought‑leadership articles
 * Contribute to long‑term editorial planning and special projects
 * Support the development of newsletters, surveys, and digital initiatives
 * Represent the publication at industry events and build relationships with senior practitioners, law firms, and policymakers
About You
 * Proven editorial experience (ideally 3+ years) in legal journalism
 * Strong writing and sub‑editing skills with impeccable attention to detail (must be able to write both long and short‑form content)
 * An ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory topics for a professional audience
 * Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
 * Confident communicator who enjoys collaborating in and managing a fast‑paced, dynamic newsroom
