We support a range of patients from a diverse demographic, varying in age and care requirements, which can include mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and patients with more complex clinical needs. As a Healthcare Assistant, duties will vary depending on each patient's individual needs. These may include NHS health checks, ECGs, blood tests, support with community outings (including community flu jabs in season), as well as offering full support to our nursing team and doctors.

Job responsibilities
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
CLINICAL
To work under indirect supervision of the nursing team, carrying out agreed procedures which include but are not limited to:
* Blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight, venipuncture, urinalysis, ECG, peak flow readings, inhaler technique, assisting with NHS health checks, care plans, pre-assessments, simple dressings, B12 injections.
* Administer flu injections to patients over 60, with practice nurse supervision.
* Assist at coil fitting clinics and minor surgery clinics, ensuring patients receive prior information.
* Check daily that emergency equipment is in full working order and correctly stored.
ADMINISTRATION
* Ensure all medical equipment is in full working order, organize servicing and replacements, liaising with the Clinical Administrator as needed.
* Check that medical waste disposal complies with practice protocols and that supplies of sharps bins and waste sacks are adequate.
* Ensure consulting rooms are stocked with relevant equipment and redistribute as necessary.
* Manage stock levels of coil fitting instruments, ensuring their safe and tidy storage.
* Check for out-of-date clinical stock and remove it from use.

Qualifications
* Experienced Healthcare Assistant
* NVQ Level 2 in Care
* At least 1 year experience in a clinical setting
* Knowledge of EMIS Web
Experience
* Experience working within a team and in a pressurized environment
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a sympathetic and caring approach
* Willingness to follow advice, instructions, and undertake delegated duties
* Ability to operate a computerised patient record system
* Professional appearance and conduct
