Role: Group Health & Safety Manager Location: Leeds, with regular travel to other sites Salary: £45,000-£55,000pa - depending on experience Hours: Monday - Friday, Full-Time About the role: Our client is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Group Health & Safety Manager to take strategic ownership of the Health & Safety function within a busy multi-site organisation. This is a role with accountability for developing, implementing and continuously enhancing the Group's Health & Safety Management System, ensuring full legislative compliance while promoting a robust and positive safety culture across all operations. You will serve as the organisation's lead competent authority for Health & Safety, offering expert advice, leadership and assurance to the senior leadership team. Key Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Manager: Take full ownership of the Group Health & Safety function, driving a visible, proactive safety culture across all operational sites. Design, implement and continually evolve Health & Safety policies, procedures and long term strategic plans aligned with business growth. Ensure robust compliance with all UK Health & Safety legislation, approved codes of practice and relevant industry standards. Maintain expert knowledge of high risk regulatory environments, acting as the organisation's subject matter authority. Lead and manage all interactions with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), including inspections, audits and regulatory interventions. Proactively identify, assess and control organisational risks, overseeing risk assessments, safe systems of work and contractor management. Own and continuously improve Permit to Work systems and emergency preparedness and response arrangements. Lead thorough investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring timely RIDDOR reporting and effective root cause analysis. Analyse incident and performance data to identify trends, implement corrective actions and strengthen the Safety Management System. Develop and deliver engaging safety inductions and ongoing training programmes, maintaining accurate competency and training records. Proactively assess role specific training requirements to ensure sustained competence across all levels of the organisation. Produce clear, data driven Health & Safety performance reports and insights for senior leadership and Board level review.
