About the Opportunity
The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM), operating under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is accepting applications for its Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Internship Program. This program supports the objectives of India’s National IPR Policy by fostering awareness, encouraging research, and developing skilled professionals in the IP domain.
Eligibility
The program is open to the following candidates:
* Students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in Law, Science, Engineering, or related fields
* Research scholars with a keen interest in IPR
* Young professionals seeking practical exposure to intellectual property systems
Internship Duration
The internship can last between 45 days and 12 months, depending on availability and the decision of CGPDTM:
* Short-term: 45 days
* Mid-term: Up to 6 months
* Long-term: Up to 12 months
Location
Internships will be conducted at various Intellectual Property Offices located in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur.
Objectives
* To provide hands-on experience in IP administration
* To deepen understanding of IP laws, procedures, and regulations
* To promote research in the field of Intellectual Property, aligned with national policy goals
Application Timeline
Applications are accepted throughout the year, but selection is subject to availability and the discretion of CGPDTM.

Certification
A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the internship.
