Your role: As the Process Automation and SaaS Architect at Elanco, you will be the strategic thought leader responsible for designing and governing our enterprise-wide automation ecosystem. In addition, you will provide technical oversight regarding solutions that leverage Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), providing holistic architecture positioning, principles and standards covering scale, reliability, security and interoperability. You will join a forward-thinking engineering team and be empowered to define the vision, tools, and standards that enable us to automate complex business processes at scale. This role is perfect for a seasoned architect who is passionate about building robust, scalable, and efficient automation solutions that drive significant business value, with experience governing SaaS solutions. Your Responsibilities: Automation and SaaS Strategy: Develop and lead the enterprise-wide automation and SaaS strategy and roadmap, aligning with engineering and business goals. Architectural Design: Create scalable, secure architectures for automation platforms, including AI, workflow orchestration, and integrations. Technology Governance: Select and govern automation tools, enforcing best practices and standards for the engineering team. Solution Oversight: Provide technical leadership to design and implement robust, maintainable automation solutions. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with business teams to identify and prioritize automation opportunities, translating needs into technical plans. Margin Expansion: Lead automation initiatives that boost productivity, support key projects, and promote best practice adoption. Integration Expertise: Ensure seamless integration of automation with core systems (ERP, CRM) via modern APIs and integration patterns. What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications): Educational Background: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Architectural Experience: Proven experience as a solution or enterprise architect, with a specific focus on automation, integration and SaaS technologies. Automation Technology Mastery: Experience in modern automation concepts (including Agentic AI) and workflow orchestration tools. Software Engineering Foundation: Strong background in software development principles, including knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python), APIs, and database technologies. Integration Platforms: Experience with enterprise integration platforms, specifically Boomi, Azure Logic Apps. Model Context Protocol: Understanding of emerging framework s that facilitate integrat ion between AI solutions and access external tools, data sources, and systems. Cloud Platform Proficiency: Practical experience with Public Cloud, specifically Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and their Automation services (e.g., Azure Logic Apps ). DevSecOps : Proven experience with relevant DevSecOps concepts and tooling, including Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Git SCM, Containeri s ation (Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure-as-Code ( HashiCorp Terraform). Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, create long-term technical roadmaps, and communicate a clear vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Governance and Standards: Experience creating and implementing technical governance frameworks, coding standards, and architectural design patterns. Business Relationship Management: Exceptional skills supporting diverse global business stakeholders, with an emphasis on proactive/predictive engagement. Industry Experience : A broad understanding of life science, covering the business model, regulatory/compliance requirements, risks and rewards. An ability to identify and execute against opportunities within machine learning that directly support life science outcomes. Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical decisions and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
