Do you have what it takes to nurture today’s young people and inspire tomorrow’s leaders? Do you have the drive, passion and commitment to deliver outstanding learning and teaching to young people in a disadvantaged community? If so, becoming a Star teacher might just be the best career move you ever make.

About Bay Leadership Academy

Bay Leadership Academy is a secondary school for 11 to 16 year olds in Morecambe. We joined Star Academies in 2018, and like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

The school was rated ‘good’ in all four areas of the inspection framework during its inspection in October 2022.

We are an ambitious school with high expectations for all of our pupils. We provide a knowledge-based academic curriculum alongside a rich and diverse leadership programme that grows character and inspires charitable and social action. Our pursuit of educational excellence is based upon our fundamental belief that every pupil has the capacity to become a successful and inspirational leader.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Woodwind and Clarinet Teacher to teach for 6.5 hours per week on a Wednesday. Qualified teacher status is not mandatory, but the role requires experience working with large groups of pupils (15+). The ideal candidate will be a skilled clarinet musician, preferably with professional performance experience, with potential to expand to other woodwind instruments (flute, saxophone, etc.). Strong instrumental delivery skills and the ability to engage and inspire pupils are essential. You should have experience achieving positive outcomes for pupils and be passionate about making a difference in young people's lives.

This unqualified teaching role offers the chance to join the Star Academies family, a high-performing and supportive network of schools. The position will be part of the music department, with potential for hours to expand over time. During the 2025-2026 academic year, the focus will be on clarinet tuition, with future expansion to other instruments possible. As a team player, you will possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate both pupils and colleagues.

You will have:

* An honours degree qualification (typically 2ii or above) or relevant music qualification.
* Innovation and creativity to engage, enthuse, and progress learners.
* The ability to teach across the age phase you will be trained for.
* The ability to deliver effective learning and teaching in the classroom.

We are a high-performing multi-academy trust that operates over 30 primary and secondary schools. We are a values-driven organisation committed to improving the life chances of young people in socially and economically deprived areas, helping them succeed academically and professionally. Joining us means shaping a young person’s future and embodying the qualities needed to succeed.

We invest heavily in professional development through our training hub, offering extensive training, mentoring, and progression opportunities across our growing group of academies. Joining our team can propel your career to the next level.
