Salary: £168.80 - £261.78

About the Role
Our client, a specialist SEN school in the Lancaster, is looking for a compassionate and reliable 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for children and young people with a range of diagnoses, including autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties. This is a highly rewarding role where you will make a genuine difference to one learner’s progress, confidence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 support to a designated pupil, helping them engage with learning and daily routines.
* Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning, sensory, and communication needs.
* Implement strategies recommended by teachers and external specialists.
* Support the pupil with regulating emotions, managing behaviour, and developing independence skills.
* Create a safe, supportive, and trusting relationship with the learner.
* Assist with record-keeping, progress notes, and contributions to EHCP targets.
* Work collaboratively with the class teacher and wider team to ensure coordinated support.
About You
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
* A patient, empathetic, and calm approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
* Confidence supporting behaviour using positive, trauma-informed techniques.
* Flexibility, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping children thrive.
* Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, PECS, Makaton) is beneficial but not essential.
