Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Client Care and Billing Specialist to join our revenue cycle team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Behavioral Health Communication Billing, familiarity with commercial payers, and a commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and follow-through. Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact—answer calls, manage emails, and greet clients with warmth and professionalism.
* Schedule client appointments and coordinate care to ensure seamless support.
* Maintain compliance with charts, insurance billing, and office documentation.
* Work collaboratively with our team.
* Submit insurance claims (primary and secondary) accurately and in a timely manner.
* Review and resolve rejected/denied claims.
* Manage aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims or denied claims and work with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies.
* Monitor claim status and ensure timely reimbursement in accordance with payer timelines.
* Handle patient billing inquiries and provide clear and compassionate explanations regarding account balances.
* Assist with audits, reporting, and month-end reconciliation as needed.
* Make calls to collect patient co-pays/co-insurance.
* Verify patient insurance information and eligibility.
* Post insurance and patient payments.
* Send patient statements and respond to billing inquiries.
* Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
* Collaborate with clinical and admin teams on documentation and coding best practices.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Clinic Director.
Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred).
* Experience: 2+ years of medical billing experience, preferably in mental or behavioral health with strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and EHR/PM systems (Valant preferably).
* Insurance Knowledge: Proven proficiency with both private insurance and Medicare billing, including eligibility verification, authorizations, claims submission, and appeals.
* Familiarity with BCBS, IBX, Aetna, United, Cigna, Optum, Medicare and other major Pennsylvania payers.
* Revenue Cycle Management: Hands‑on experience contributing to the full revenue cycle—from patient intake and coding through payment posting, denial management, and reporting.
* Technical Proficiency: Comfortable working with billing software, clearinghouses, and electronic health record (EHR) systems; ability to adapt to new technologies and AI‑driven solutions.
* Strong communication skills—able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
