Pharmacy Practitioner Development Technician

As a Practitioner development technician working for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of our Pharmacy team. You'll be responsible for leading, supporting, and guiding students and apprentices through their Level 2 and Level 3 training, ensuring they gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their roles.

You'll work closely with the Lead Practitioner Development Technician and the wider team to identify training needs and provide tailored support. As part of your role, you'll deliver engaging CPD sessions and foster a positive, supportive learning environment for all team members.

Main duties of the job

* To ensure the provision of a consistently high level of training and support to level 3 Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, including fortnightly progress reviews.
* To deliver specialist Btec level 2 (Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Support workers) underpinning knowledge for Assistants and Pharmacy Apprentices, to be an assessor for this award and to help prepare Pharmacy Apprentices for end point assessment.
* To deliver CAVA and IQA training within Pharmacy
* To be an Internal Verifier for the OUHFT Pharmacy NVQ & Btec Centre
* To review the quality of training for Pharmacy Support Staff and Pharmacy Technicians
* To be a role model for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Education and Training

Job responsibilities

Person Specification


Education and qualifications

* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services and recognised underpinning knowledge (Btec in Pharmacy Services) or equivalent
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with GPHC
* CAVA Assessors Award or equivalent
* Recognised accredited checking qualification
* Recognised accredited medicines management qualification
* Educational/practice supervisor or equivalent
* NVQ Internal Verifiers Award (D34)


Experience and Knowledge

* Significant experience of working as a post qualification Pharmacy Technician
* Previous experience of mentoring and training others
* Proven skills and knowledge of Btec process
* In-depth knowledge of Pharmacy qualifications
* Understanding of the workings of the NHS in both primary and secondary care
* Understanding of the workings of the NHS in both primary and secondary care
* Understanding of workforce planning
