Job Description
It’s a fantastic time to work for the Environment Agency as we step forward to tackle the climate emergency. As a member of the FCRM Improvements Portfolio team, you will support the Portfolio Management office and sub‑portfolio’s project and programme work, delivering over £150 million of improvements over the next three years. Your role will be critical to inform the changes we are delivering, enabling us to protect communities and businesses from the devastating impacts of flooding.
Responsibilities
• Start up and inform new projects.
• Assist in assuring live projects and support project managers.
• Build relationships with the Portfolio Management Office.
• Improve and embed portfolio management and data practices.
• Fulfil a virtual incident role and provide business continuity during incidents, with additional payment and full training.
Experience / Skills Required
* Formal project / programme management experience is essential.
* Highly numerate with strong data gathering, manipulation and interpretation skills; experience of Microsoft Excel is required and Power BI / Tableau (or similar) is desirable.
* Experience in a project support role in a complex organisation using Agile and waterfall methodologies.
* Administrative and organisational skills, supporting regular meetings, agenda and minutes for portfolio governance cycles.
* Financial data management and project planning skills are desirable.
* Ability to gain credibility, respect and co‑operation throughout the business through collaborative behaviours.
* Experience in tackling and automating routine issues with a continuous improvement and problem‑solving mindset.
* Ability to work with uncertainty and find innovative solutions to solve problems.
