Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking a Senior Engineer to join their team in Stratford on a contract basis. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for delivering site engineering activities across multiple projects, providing technical leadership, supervising engineers, and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities for Senior Engineer * Establish and maintain survey and level control, overseeing setting-out activities and attending critical works * Ensure works are delivered safely, to specification, and in line with quality, environmental, and health & safety requirements * Supervise, mentor, and line-manage Site and Junior Engineers, supporting development, recruitment, and performance reviews * Lead quality management activities including checks, audits, ITPs, Quality Plans, and corrective actions * Assist Site/Sub Agents with planning, work methods, resource management, and deputise when required * Manage engineering resources, materials take-offs, procurement schedules, and availability of plant and labour * Prepare and issue method statements, toolbox talks, and maintain accurate project and resource records * Coordinate with project teams during tender handover, pre-commencement, and delivery stages * Compile and manage as-built records and QA documentation to support timely project handover * Maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders Required Experience for Senior Engineer * Previous experience in setting out on civil engineering projects, including highways, infrastructure, reinforced concrete works, and projects within the water sector involving live assets such as drainage or trunk sewers * Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering * Valid CSCS card * SMSTS (or IOSH Managing Safely) * Confined Space training * Experience using AutoCAD for drawing review, coordination, and buildability assessment * Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects from design through construction and handover with minimal guidance * Experience working on water authority projects (e.g. Thames Water or equivalent), with an understanding of client processes, operational constraints, consents, and permitting requirements * Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, including early warnings, change control, and compensation events * Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, Design Management, risk management, and temporary works coordination * Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop Engineers and site teams, working effectively both individually and as part of a wider project team * Ability to challenge designs, identify buildability issues, and resolve technical problems to a conclusion * Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting, variation identification, and value engineering * Experience producing and maintaining accurate records, including site diaries, QA documentation, as-builts, and monthly reports * Ability to plan and manage construction programmes, short-term lookaheads, and resource allocation * Effective communicator, able to engage confidently with client representatives, designers, subcontractors, and site operatives * Proven commitment to delivering works safely, to the required quality, and in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
