While your core expertise will be in Product Design, this role is about strategic leadership across our four pillars: Product Design, Textiles, Food Technology, and Design Skills. We are looking for a leader who can synthesize our KS3 offer to ensure "Design Thinking" is the common language spoken in every workshop, while mentoring our team of specialists to ensure a unified departmental identity focused on high-stakes outcomes. Key Leadership Responsibilities: Cross-Specialism Innovation: Design and oversee a seamless KS3 curriculum that flows between different materials and processes. The Engineers of Tomorrow: Maximise our state-of-the-art Product Design facilities to inspire girls toward careers in civil, mechanical, and structural engineering. Industry Excellence: Ensure our Food Technology and Hospitality curriculum remains aspirational, and guide students through the technical rigours of Textiles and Product Design. Sixth Form Leadership: Maintain our thriving KS5 culture where students frequently progress from our A-Level pathways to prestigious universities. External Partnerships: Leverage our location in Bath—a global hub for innovation—to deepen links with partners like Rotork, Buro Happold, and iconic brands such as Mulberry. Requirements Essential Requirements Specialism: A proven track record as an outstanding Product Design specialist with the ability to teach to KS5. Leadership: Experience in (or clear potential for) leading a diverse team of subject specialists across different disciplines. Vision: A passion for promoting women in STEM and technical industries, ensuring high aspirations for every student. Curriculum Design: The ability to craft a foundational "Design Skills" curriculum that prepares students for the rigours of GCSE and A-Level. Communication: Highly developed interpersonal skills to forge links with local industry and global innovation hubs. Desirable Requirements Experience in managing departmental budgets and high-value equipment. Evidence of successful cross-curricular collaboration.
